Architecture LGBT+ presents ‘Designing Out’
In the summer of 2021 I organised, coordinated, designed and curated the ‘Designing Out’ exhibition for Architecture LGBT+ at the Roca London Gallery (designed by Zaha Hadid).
Architecture LGBT+ is a not for profit working to make the architecture and construction sectors safer and more inclusive for LGBT+ folk to be, work and study.
Designing Out is a showcase of LGBTQIA+ talent in Architecture, encompassing projects and research from students, graduates, professionals and academics. It aims to provide a platform for under-represented designers by bringing their work to a wider audience.
This exhibition comprises projects which engage with wide-ranging themes within the built environment. Projects in this show either directly relate to LGBTQIA+ themes, or are by designers who identify as being part of the LGBTQIA+ community (often both).
A selection of 26 projects was made from an international open call for submissions by a panel of six judges, we received submissions from 13 different countries and over 20 different universities.
